Interview Resource Guide

Prepare for interviews with proven techniques, sample questions, and tips to help you showcase your skills and make a lasting impression.

Interview Preparation

  • Set aside time to prepare for each interview
  • Practice answers to common and industry-specific questions
  • Understand the types of interviews and tailor your preparation accordingly
  • Develop 3-5 go-to stories that highlight your skills and readiness
  • Use the STAR method to structure behavioral responses: Situation, Task, Action, Result

Types of Interviews

  • Phone Screening: One-on-one conversation to gauge interest and clarify qualifications
  • Virtual Interviews: Conducted via video chat or recorded responses
  • In-Person Interviews: Traditional format with direct interaction
  • Panel Interviews: Multiple interviewers assess the candidate together

Behavioral and Situational Questions

Using the STAR Method helps structure responses to behavioral questions:

S – Situation: Set the context (where, when, who, what)

T – Task: Describe the challenge or responsibility you had

A – Action: Explain the steps you took to address the situation

R – Result: Share the outcome, focusing on achievements or lessons learned

Example Response Using STAR:

“At my previous internship, our team faced a tight deadline for delivering a marketing campaign (Situation). My role was to coordinate project tasks and streamline communication (Task). I implemented a shared tracking system and held daily check-ins to ensure we met milestones (Action). As a result, we completed the campaign ahead of schedule, and engagement increased by 30% (Result).”
