Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement, Pomona College

>> May name is Kayla McCauley. I'm the assistant director of Alumni and Parent Engagement at my alma mater, Pomona College, and the work that we do is really about building community, and I work with alumni and our faculty to put on learning and career-focused programs primarily. I travel quite a bit for regional events and, really, what it all boils down to the connecting people back that that experience that they had at Pomona. So for a lot of the work I focus on, it's helping connect alumni to other alumni for the purposes of career searching, mentoring, networking. We have a number of volunteers throughout the country who help us plan networking events and develop our presence on LinkedIn, which a great resource for our alumni to find people. Maybe they're thinking about a career transition or they want to go back to grad school, and Pomona is just, you know, our alumni have such interesting stories. It's great that we can help be that resource for them. Faculty lectures, when a faculty member is traveling outside of Claremont, you know, not a lot of our alumni live in Claremont, so when the programming goes to them, we try and build events around that, and then, you know, we have a number of resources online, in terms of social media and our website that, you know, all kind of help to connect people.
